This page is your hub—whether you’re still deciding if therapy is right for you or you already see me and just need info in one place.

Is online therapy right for me?

Out Of The Box Counseling is a 100% online practice, serving adult women who are physically in Florida or South Carolina at the time of session. You meet from wherever feels most private and comfortable—your couch, your office, your parked car—as long as it’s safe and confidential.

Online therapy offers the same depth as in‑person work, with less commuting, less scrambling, and fewer barriers between you and getting support.

What’s your therapeutic style?

Therapy with me is collaborative, direct, and real. You’re not talking to a blank wall while I just nod.

I pull from tools like:

  • Brainspotting

  • DBT‑informed skills

  • Somatic and nervous‑system‑focused work

  • Attachment‑based therapy

  • Psychoeducation and simple, practical “between session” experiments

We’re not just slapping coping skills on top of chaos—we’re paying attention to what’s underneath, so things actually start to shift.

Why focus on the “root” of things?

You can absolutely learn to manage crises and consequences, but if the roots never get touched, the same patterns keep popping back up in different outfits.

In our work, we look at what happened, how your nervous system adapted, and the beliefs you picked up about yourself and relationships. When those roots start to shift, the symptoms—outbursts, shutdowns, burnout, people‑pleasing—don’t have to work so hard.

I’ve never talked to a therapist before. Does needing help mean I’m weak?

No. It means you’re human and you’re paying attention.

Asking for help is one of the most uncomfortable and brave things people do. In our sessions, we’ll make space for the part of you that feels like you “should be able to handle it” and still let you get the support you deserve.

How is therapy different from talking to friends or family?

Friends and family can love you and still:

  • Take sides

  • Give advice that isn’t actually helpful

  • Feel personally affected by your choices

Therapy is a dedicated, confidential space where the focus is completely on you. You get a trained set of eyes on your patterns, your nervous system, and your story—without guilt, pressure, or “I told you so.”

Why not just take medication?

Medication can be a very important part of the picture for some people, especially with mood, anxiety, or attention issues. Therapy doesn’t replace meds, and meds don’t replace therapy—they do different jobs.

Therapy is where you untangle why things feel the way they do, what your nervous system is trying to protect you from, and how to build a life that fits you better.

What should I expect from sessions?

Sessions are tailored to you, but generally you can expect:

  • Time to land, check in, and track what’s happening in your body and emotions

  • Space to look at what’s bothering you now and how it connects to older stuff

  • A mix of processing, skills, and practical ideas to try between sessions

You don’t need to show up “with an agenda” every week. If all you have is “I don’t even know where to start,” that’s okay—we’ll figure it out together.

How long will I be in therapy?

There’s no one right timeline. Some women work with me for a few months around something specific; others stay longer to dig into deeper relational and trauma patterns.

We’ll check in regularly about what’s working, what isn’t, and what your goals are now so therapy stays intentional—not just something you do out of habit.

How can I get the most out of therapy?

A few things that help:

  • Showing up honestly—even if what’s true is “I didn’t do the things we talked about.”

  • Trying small experiments between sessions and noticing what happens.

  • Saying something if you feel stuck, misunderstood, or unsure about our direction.

Therapy works best when we’re both telling the truth and adjusting as we go.

Who do you work with?

This practice focuses on adult women who are ready for deep work, not surface‑level check‑ins.

Common themes include trauma and CPTSD, BPD and emotional intensity, attachment wounds, anxiety, depression, addiction histories, and feeling like you’re “too much and not enough” at the same time. There are no kids’ sessions, no teen therapy, and no couples or family sessions at this time.

How do I get started?

If you’re new:

  • Use the contact form or call/email to share a bit about what’s going on.

  • If it seems like a good fit, we’ll schedule an intake and talk through what you’re hoping for.
